Overview
New Zealand–born designer Emilia Wickstead founded her London atelier in 2008 after studying fashion design and marketing at Central Saint Martins and working for Giorgio Armani and Vogue. She began by taking made‑to‑measure orders in her living room before opening a boutique in Belgravia and presenting her first collection at London Fashion Week in 2012.
Known for graceful, feminine silhouettes in pastel colours and elegant prints, Wickstead quickly built a clientele including Samantha Cameron and the Princess of Wales. Her label has since expanded into ready‑to‑wear, bridal and accessories, selling through luxury retailers worldwide.
Awards such as the Elle Style Awards’ Red Carpet Designer of the Year and multiple British Fashion Award nominations affirm her status as a leader in modern elegance. The brand’s evolution reflects a careful balance between heritage and modernity, and its global presence continues to grow as it explores new markets and product categories.
Philosophy
Wickstead’s philosophy embodies polished femininity and timeless sophistication. She draws inspiration from mid‑century couture and European socialites, translating them into impeccably cut dresses, tailored trousers and fluid skirts that exude quiet confidence. The designer champions made‑to‑measure and bespoke services, valuing personal relationships with clients and garments that fit beautifully.
Sustainability is addressed through smaller collections, natural fibres, local production and mentorship programmes that support young women entering fashion. Wickstead also advocates for inclusive sizing and has collaborated with charities promoting women’s education.
Her clothes are meant to be cherished and passed down, offering an antidote to fast fashion while celebrating femininity. At its core, the brand strives to balance tradition with innovation, embracing inclusivity and sustainability while encouraging personal expression and thoughtful consumption.
