Overview
Jil Sander Navy was a lower-priced extension of Jil Sander announced in 2010 and launched for Spring/Summer 2011. Initially centred on women’s casual clothing, it translated the house’s controlled line into T-shirts, knit dresses, denim, jackets and accessories at prices below the main collection.
Raf Simons was publicly described as overseeing the line at launch, while its seasonal execution remained a house studio process. Navy developed its own website, campaign imagery and retail presence before ending with the Spring/Summer 2019 collection and closing operations in July 2019.
Philosophy
Navy treated ease as a matter of construction rather than informality alone. Softer structure, practical fabrics and a broader casual wardrobe carried Jil Sander’s economy of line into everyday use.
The line’s separation from the main collection was commercial and tonal, not a rejection of the parent house. Clean proportion, controlled colour and concise product design remained the organising principles.
