Solid Homme is the Seoul menswear label founded by Woo Young Mi in 1988, with Woo Jang Hee part of the early family structure around the business. It predates Wooyoungmi and forms the commercial and creative bedrock of Solid Corporation. Launched at a moment when South Korean menswear was still largely conservative, the label helped introduce a design-led ready-to-wear proposition built around softer silhouettes, contemporary tailoring and urban practicality.
The brand’s identity is distinct from Wooyoungmi. Solid Homme works in the contemporary menswear register: technical casualwear, outerwear, denim, workwear references, clean tailoring and a persistent interest in geometry. FHCM describes the brand through cut, fabrication, old-and-new tension and Bauhaus-informed abstraction, a useful frame for its graphic silhouettes and structured daily wardrobe.
After decades of domestic strength in South Korea, Solid Homme developed a separate Paris Fashion Week presence, including its Fall/Winter 2022 debut at La Cigale and later presentations on the official menswear calendar. It reads as a sibling house under Solid Corporation: related to Wooyoungmi by authorship, ownership and design discipline, but operating with its own market position, collection rhythm and public fashion-week record.
Philosophy
Solid Homme’s philosophy is pragmatic, architectural and urban. The brand builds from proportion and use: coats, trousers, denim, shirts, knitwear and utility pieces are refined through cut, fabrication and controlled detail. Its Bauhaus references are not ornamental; they appear in the preference for geometry, modularity, abstract form and a wardrobe that looks engineered without losing ease.
Where Wooyoungmi often heightens tailoring into romance, Solid Homme keeps closer to the everyday city. Workwear, technical cloth, soft tailoring and sports-inflected pieces form a practical system for contemporary menswear. The line is polished but not precious, using surface and silhouette to make familiar clothes sharper.
Recent Paris presentations have pushed that vocabulary through staged ideas of dual identity, urban movement and the modern multi-hyphenate. The result is a brand with a clear separate temperament: less ceremonious than Wooyoungmi, more functional in its register, and strongest when its clean construction meets subtle disruptions of colour, volume and utility.
