Symetria

Symetria is a New Zealand womenswear label established by Vicki Taylor in 2018 to place her design practice on the Northern Hemisphere wholesale calendar. Introduced to international buyers through a Paris showroom during Paris Fashion Week, the brand gave Taylor a separate seasonal framework for overseas retail while her original taylor label continued to operate on the New Zealand calendar. In 2019 Symetria reached Selfridges’ Designer Gallery 1 in London, an early indication of the label’s intended position within international designer retail.

Designed by Taylor and made in New Zealand, Symetria carries the same attention to fabric, proportion and construction that underpins her longer-running work while maintaining its own seasonal identity. The label remained active in 2026 through The Shelter’s designer roster and current retail presence. Its rhythm is shaped by international wholesale: fabric weights, delivery windows and seasonal timing are organised around Northern Hemisphere buyers, giving Taylor a parallel channel for New Zealand-made womenswear beyond the domestic retail cycle.

Symetria approaches womenswear through disciplined proportion and material choice. The label is grounded in Vicki Taylor’s preference for strong fabrications, controlled volume and construction-led silhouettes, with New Zealand manufacture supporting the precision of the cut. Its visual language favours restraint over overt branding, allowing texture, line and the behaviour of the cloth to carry the identity of each collection.

The international calendar is integral to that design logic. Symetria was conceived around the weights, delivery periods and seasonal needs of Northern Hemisphere wholesale, so commercial timing becomes part of how a collection is built.
