Overview
Versace Jeans Couture was a licensed jeans and contemporary programme publicly active by 1989. Ittierre manufactured the line from its founder-era launch, and later production phases involved other partners including Gruppo Facchini and Swinger SA. The programme was institutionally distinct from mainline Versace even when it shared logos, prints and distribution channels.
Versus was absorbed into Versace Jeans in October 2018, after which consumer-facing material commonly used the Versace Jeans Couture name. The precise legal and assortment relationship between Versace Jeans, VJC and the absorbed Versus business is not fully documented.
Versace decided in October 2024 to terminate the Swinger relationship and discontinue the line. Product and campaign traces continued during the wind-down, while Prada Group publicly marked Versace Jeans Couture as discontinued in March 2026.
Philosophy
The line translated Versace iconography into denim, sportswear and contemporary product through industrial licensing. Its authorship joined house direction and approval to external manufacturing and distribution, so product credits should not be reduced to the current mainline creative director.
