About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2002–03 belongs to 5351's formal return to the Tokyo Collection under Kazuhisa Komura. After the late-1990s Paris phase and the 2000 change of Chief Designer, the brand re-centred its public fashion activity in Japan while retaining the combined menswear and womenswear presentation identity.
The collection carried forward 5351's fitted tailoring, dark colour and processed-material vocabulary under a new internal leader. Its importance lies in continuity: the runway demonstrated that the label could survive the departure of its first principal designer and remain recognisable through an ABAHOUSE studio succession.
