About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2016–17 Antithesis was presented at Omotesando Hills as the final documented runway in 5351's mid-2010s Tokyo cycle. The title placed opposition at the centre of a brand already built on contrast: polished tailoring against distressed surface, formal menswear against rock attitude, and corporate studio discipline against an image of individual rebellion.
Under Komura's direction, the collection continued the label's controlled, narrow silhouette and material contrast within a live runway format. Later 5351 seasons remain active and coherent, but their public presentation increasingly shifts to editorial features, exhibitions and lookbooks, making Antithesis an important boundary in the verified runway archive.
