A.F. Vandevorst

ALWAYS+FOREVER marked twenty years of A.F. Vandevorst by treating the archive as a live collection. At the Oratoire du Louvre on 25 January 2018, the designers selected one actual look from each of their previous forty collections, restyled the pieces and presented them in chronological sequence.

The result was not a newly constructed forty-look couture wardrobe. It was a controlled re-reading of two decades of military coats, lingerie, footwear, medical signs, equestrian leather and changing proportions. By placing old garments back on moving bodies, the show made continuity and mutation visible without disguising the age or origin of the pieces.
