About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2004–05 expanded A.F. Vandevorst’s presentation scale at La Grande Halle de la Villette. Models arrived individually in chauffeured black Lexuses and stepped into the hall like members of a guarded Russian elite, turning the threshold between car and runway into part of the collection’s ceremony.
Military and aristocratic references met ballet and fragile facial concealment. Inge Grognard moulded silk-organza veils on wooden forms and attached them to the models’ faces, giving the procession an eerie delicacy against the heavier clothing. The collection later supplied the point of departure for the MoMu exhibition Katharina Prospekt: The Russians.
