About this collection
For its tenth anniversary, A.F. Vandevorst built Autumn/Winter 2008–09 around simultaneous views of backstage and runway. Fourteen video screens tracked the models descending from behind the scenes into the public space, exposing the transition that fashion shows usually conceal.
The clothes played similar games of doubling and inversion, placing smaller jackets against larger coats and hard structure against softer volume. The finale extended the crossing of backstage and front-of-house as waiters moved onto the catwalk with Champagne, turning celebration into one more choreographed layer of the show.
