About this collection

For Spring/Summer 1999, A.F. Vandevorst turned a Paris school dormitory into a clinical ward. Models lay beneath creased blankets in vintage hospital beds, apparently asleep, until concealed red lights triggered them to rise and move through the room.

Pyjama-like clothing, white cotton and the institutional staging deepened the medical vocabulary introduced by the Red Cross logo. The performance made fragility, observation and recovery part of the collection and was followed by the house’s Vénus de la Mode award for Le Futur Grand Créateur.
