A.F. Vandevorst

Spring/Summer 2001 turned vintage silk stockings and their fragile packaging into the material centre of an A.F. Vandevorst collection. Nude and flesh-toned clothing extended the house’s interest in lingerie from an underlying layer into the principal visual field.

The audience watched through a large black nylon gauze enclosure inside a gymnasium. The veil made every body slightly remote and softened the view of the hosiery-inspired forms, joining intimacy with obstruction in a presentation that controlled not only how the models moved but how clearly the audience was allowed to see them.
