About this collection

In 1968, Cristóbal Balenciaga designed navy winter uniforms for Air France cabin crew, his only sustained encounter with industrial ready-to-wear before the couture house closed. The commission translated his clean collars, bracelet sleeves and controlled tailoring into a standardised uniform system, while exposing the distance between his made-to-measure practice and mass production.
