About this collection
The 51st couture collection pushed the restored Balenciaga atelier towards high technology and object design. Carved neoprene, engineered face shields developed with Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science and an aluminium Bang & Olufsen speaker bag sat beside extreme tailoring and a wedding dress made from hundreds of metres of tulle. The collection treated couture as a platform where hand labour, industrial engineering and limited functional objects could share the same level of attention.
