About this collection
The Envelope dress pushed Balenciaga’s late gazar work towards near abstraction. Four rigid points projected around the body, with internal weighting and precise tension allowing the garment to hold its geometry independently of ordinary movement. Impractical by design, the dress made the space around the wearer more important than conventional fit and stands among the clearest examples of couture becoming architectural object.
