About this collection
Thimister’s Autumn/Winter 1996–1997 collection used cowl-like hoods, dark beading and elongated drape to recall the face-framing habits and ecclesiastical dress that had informed Cristóbal Balenciaga. The reference was filtered through 1990s minimalism rather than historical costume, producing a severe, inward-looking wardrobe whose tension came from cut, weight and the controlled framing of the head.
