About this collection
Thimister’s final Balenciaga show paired mannish moleskin suits, very wide trousers, ties and gazar capes with a punishing live performance by Add N to (X). The sound prompted a widely reported audience walkout and became inseparable from the collection’s reception. The incident exposed the gap between the designer’s avant-garde ambitions and the commercial caution of the Jacques Bogart ownership, ending his tenure and opening the way for Nicolas Ghesquière.
