About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2006 brought Ghesquière into a more direct exchange with Cristóbal Balenciaga’s archive. Cocoon volume, equestrian plaid, rigid mini-dresses and dramatic hats made historical structure visible without losing the modern tension of the era. The collection demonstrated that his futurism was not opposed to heritage: both relied on exact control of proportion, surface and protective form.
