About this collection
Autumn/Winter 2012 placed Balenciaga inside a corporate science-fiction environment on the twenty-seventh floor of a Paris office tower. Boxed shoulders, synthetic surfaces, graphic sweatshirts and Blade Runner-like executive archetypes turned the business uniform into a futuristic costume. Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s set made the collection feel like a complete institutional world, while the oversized sweatshirts anticipated a streetwear silhouette that would become increasingly important across luxury fashion.
