About this collection

The Tunic line extended the bodice into a long, straight form that passed over the natural waist and hips. Its apparently simple tubular shape required exact control of fabric and balance, replacing the conventional hourglass with a continuous vertical plane. The collection became a crucial step between Balenciaga’s semi-fitted tailoring and the fully waistless sack dress introduced two years later.
