About this collection
Presented in October 1987, the first Le Dix collection returned Balenciaga to fashion production nineteen years after Cristóbal Balenciaga closed the house. Michel Goma used clean chemises, practical separates, shorter hems and late-1980s colour to make the name legible as ready-to-wear. The season could not reproduce the founder’s couture system, but it reactivated the studio, calendar and retail machinery on which every later revival depended.
