About this collection
The Spring/Summer 2003 Scuba collection translated neoprene, aquatic colour blocking and the articulated logic of diving equipment into high fashion. Ghesquière treated performance material with couture precision, balancing close technical surfaces against flounces and volumes derived from the Balenciaga archive. The season helped establish luxury sportswear as a serious design field well before athleisure became a dominant market category.
