About this collection
Spring/Summer 2007 pushed Balenciaga into explicit android futurism. Articulated metallic leggings, rigid panelled surfaces and aerodynamic shapes treated the body as a machine assembled for display. The gold robot leggings became one of the defining runway images of the decade: commercially extreme, technically theatrical and instantly legible as the apex of Ghesquière’s science-fiction vocabulary.
