About this collection
Brandon Maxwell’s debut runway established the label through a concentrated language of black-and-white tailoring, plunging necklines, sharply defined waists and elongated evening silhouettes. Presented in the intimate setting of Mr Chow, the collection carried the precision of Maxwell’s styling work into clothes of his own authorship, using controlled drape and clean line instead of elaborate surface decoration.
The show made the transition from image director to fashion designer public and legible. Its restrained wardrobe became the baseline from which Maxwell would later introduce saturated colour, sportswear, accessories and much larger runway environments.
