BULUUY MIRRII

Honey Bee emerged through the Fashion360 accelerator showcase in Brisbane in August 2019 as an early haute-couture statement from BULUUY MIRRII. The collection drew on native honey-bee Dreaming stories and Johnson’s interest in sculptural eveningwear, using strong surface, colour and tailored form to carry cultural narrative through couture construction.

The collection remained part of the house’s runway vocabulary and was presented again at Melbourne Fashion Week’s Urban Garden runway in October 2022. Its recurrence across different stages makes it a useful bridge between BULUUY MIRRII’s earlier development period and the more formally titled collection system that followed.
