Children of the discordance

Area Area reconstructed the late-1990s street geography of Yokohama through graphics, distressed knitwear and oversized vintage T-shirts. Graffiti artist Sui reproduced markings from the Sakuragicho overpass, turning a specific local surface into a repeated collection element.

Small vintage graphic T-shirts were dismantled and combined into larger garments, demonstrating the economic and technical logic behind Shikama’s reconstruction system. The collection treated clothing as a record of the parks, music scenes and informal dress codes of his youth.
