The second Dior couture season enlarged Belle Époque and fin-de-siècle references through corseted waists, sweeping skirts, embroidered surfaces and grand evening silhouettes. Galliano used the atelier’s formal resources to shift rapidly from debut quotation towards a more continuous historical theatre.
