Autumn/Winter 2025 returned to a darker register, where volume, density and severe outline carry the main argument. The garments feel guarded, built around the body rather than simply placed on it, with blackness giving weight to the silhouette. Kawakubo’s late mainline often turns fit into a confrontation, and this season keeps that confrontation active without needing an overt theme. The interest is physical: how clothing can press, shelter, obscure and redraw the figure all at once, using darkness as force.
