Beyond Reality pushes Homme Plus into a more abstract late register, where clothing moves away from ordinary social function and toward impossible form. Instead, silhouette and construction can suggest a world just outside normal proportion. Kawakubo’s strongest late Homme Plus work often makes the familiar body feel displaced, and this season uses that displacement to turn garments into symbolic, theatrical objects.
