Spring/Summer 2024 belongs to the quieter side of the recent mainline, where impact comes through proportion rather than a loudly named idea. The strongest language is visual: compressed volume, bodily shell, softened armour and silhouettes that shift the figure away from ordinary dress. Nothing here asks to be inflated into a landmark, but the season still shows Kawakubo’s continued interest in garments as strange containers for the body. Its tension is controlled, almost held in reserve, with surface and outline doing the work.
