For Spring/Summer 2025, lightness did not mean ease. Pale volume, softened shell shapes and restrained surfaces kept the season in tension with conventional prettiness, as though delicacy had been pulled slightly out of alignment. Kawakubo’s mainline can make quiet forms feel obstinate, and this collection sits in that space: less aggressive than the darkest seasons, but still resistant to ordinary grace. The clothes suggest air, softness and drift while keeping the body visibly managed by structure and proportion. The softness remains alert, not decorative.
