Spring/Summer 2026 presents the recent mainline as an active, unsettled practice rather than a settled late style. The useful language is formal but not empty: provisional volume, softened structure and garments that sit slightly out of alignment with ordinary dress. The body is not transformed through drama so much as offset, nudged into a different relation with clothing. That quieter disturbance keeps the season from feeling neutral. Kawakubo’s work remains resistant even when the surface looks restrained, with shape carrying the disruption.
