About this collection
Gucci–Dapper Dan: The Collection translated Daniel Day’s Harlem archive into an authorised ready-to-wear and accessories release using Gucci materials and house codes. Gucci described the project as a design synergy between Dapper Dan and creative director Alessandro Michele, with tracksuits, denim, GG canvas jackets and other pieces carrying the oversized proportions and logo-driven surfaces associated with Day’s earlier bespoke work.
The collection received a preview at Gucci Wooster in SoHo before becoming available online on 17 July 2018. Ari Marcopoulos photographed the Harlem imagery, extending the collaboration beyond product into a visual account of Day’s neighbourhood and the revived public profile of his atelier.
