About this collection
Matriarch began with family photographs contributed by Scott’s community, using domestic interiors to consider how Black and Caribbean women are preserved in public and private archives. Military and formal codes were reworked through crochet, macramé and crystal mesh, while body-draped jersey and sensual uses of Harris Tweed complicated the expectation that strength must appear rigid or stoic.
