About this collection
Small Door drew on Terunobu Fujimori’s free-form teahouses and the nijiriguchi, the low entrance through which a visitor crosses into a different spatial and emotional register. Hayashi used the small doorway as a metaphor for clothing that transports the wearer from ordinary surroundings into a more intimate world.
Textured jacquards, loose knitwear and fluid separates translated the architectural reference into a mature lookbook language, showing how Fumiku’s early dream imagery had developed into a more spatial and material form of fantasy.
