About this collection
Pugh designed more than sixty costumes for Thomas Jolly’s staging of Cavalli’s Eliogabalo. Golden solar discs, dark corsetry and restrictive ceremonial forms translated the opera’s corrupt imperial power into an image system that later fed directly into Pugh’s Spring/Summer 2017 runway collection.
