The second couture collection returned to Directoire and Joséphine-era dress through empire lines, elaborate coiffure, velvet, embroidery and expanded ceremonial volume. Galliano used couture technique to reconnect his own Incroyables research with Givenchy’s atelier, producing a more personal but still institutionally commissioned collection.
