About this collection
BISSAKARAK means scribble or first draft in Ewondo. Ayissi organised the collection around the suspended moment when a line on paper becomes a drape on the mannequin, allowing colour fields, wrapping and discovered volume to retain the freedom of a sketch. The work connected his direct method of shaping cloth to African garments whose form remains adjustable around the body.
