About this collection

Spring/Summer 2017 [knives;] brought JULIUS into direct collaboration with Karl O’Connor and Downwards Records, connecting Horikawa’s clothing with the spare industrial strain of British techno associated with Regis and the Birmingham sound. Lyrics and graphic language from the music entered the garments, while Samuel Kerridge and Autumns performed live during the Paris show.

The collection is especially important within Horikawa’s career because it closed a long loop back to the club culture that preceded JULIUS. Fashion, typography and live industrial sound operated together without becoming a decorative soundtrack exercise: the clothing retained the brand’s dark-wave, military and elongated vocabulary while the sonic collaborators changed the physical intensity of the runway itself.
