About this collection
Spring/Summer 2009 is the best-supported point at which JULIUS entered the formal Paris men’s runway system. Horikawa had already brought the label to Paris for market and gallery activity in 2008; this season converted that exploratory presence into an institutional international runway position.
The Paris move carried a visual language developed in Tokyo—monochrome, leather, protective tailoring, military hardware and asymmetric drape—into a global menswear context. It established the structure for the increasingly ambitious Paris collections that would define the following decade.
