About this collection
JULIUS’s Spring/Summer 2015 runway, presented in Paris on 26 June 2014, pushed the preceding digital phase towards a harder structural geometry. Contemporary reporting connected the collection to Wade Guyton’s black paintings, Josef Koudelka’s photography, Naum Gabo’s sculpture and the biomechanical visual language of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Neoprene, nylon, mesh and engineered shapes gave garments a degree of independence from the body, turning Horikawa’s familiar distortion into rigid planes and controlled spatial volume. The season shows how the house could absorb high-art and animation references without abandoning its basic concern with protection, blackness and altered anatomy.
