About this collection
Prada’s first verified women’s ready-to-wear collection established the house as a permanent participant in the seasonal fashion system. Presented in Milan in March 1988 and preserved in the official archive with 53 exits, it shifted an accessories-led company into clothing without abandoning the severe utility and material discipline already visible in its leather goods and nylon.
The record is significant as institutional evidence rather than as a retrospective myth of instant transformation. Exact venue, day, styling, casting and production credits remain unresolved; Miuccia Prada is the supported public author, with Albert Watson credited for the campaign.
