Exploder sits between the white, ethereal release of Wishbone and the cleaner sculptural turn of Creatch. Rather than announcing a new direction, it extends Owens’s early Paris grammar of layered outerwear, volume and cocooning. Its value is transitional: the collection helps connect the first jacket-and-drape system to the sharper sculptural manipulation that follows, while keeping the body wrapped, lengthened and protected. That restraint is why it works best as connective tissue in the early chronology.
