Mastodon AW 2016 menswear turns protection into bulky, ecological volume. Shearling, bleach-splattered surfaces, cargo cloth and padded outerwear form Jurassic parkas, wide trousers, skinny jackets and cargo-padded silhouettes that make the body look sheltered and enlarged. The collection draws on dinosaurs, tar pits, bees and environmental change without becoming literal costume. Its force comes from treating menswear as insulation against threat: heavy, practical, prehistoric in mood, and still sharply controlled through proportion.
