Babel SS 2019 menswear scales Owens’s clothing into public spectacle. Painted canvas, nylon and denim become tent-like coats, wide poppered trousers, denim skirts and side-harness pocket systems, while dyed smoke in the Palais de Tokyo courtyard gives the runway a riot-frame intensity. The collection uses Babel, Tatlin and Russian Constructivist memory as pressure points, but the clothes do the structural work: pockets hang like equipment, outerwear becomes temporary architecture, and smoke turns movement into civic theatre.
