About this collection
The Spring/Summer 2009 runway doubled as Sonia Rykiel’s fortieth-anniversary celebration. Gabrielle Greiss led collection design within Nathalie Rykiel’s artistic and executive structure and the founder’s approval, before thirty invited designers offered separate tribute looks interpreting the Rykiel woman.
The show’s collective finale turned succession into spectacle without presenting the guest contributions as house-authored mainline looks. Its scale, peer participation and proximity to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs retrospective made the season a concentrated public account of the label’s influence.
