About this collection

Created for Keita Maruyama’s 30th anniversary, this project placed archival embroidery on a reconstructed 1950s-style reversible sukajan. Asakawa used heavy acetate satin, cupro velvet, washing and adjusted volume to bring ssstein’s pattern discipline to a garment already dense with Japanese postwar cultural meaning.
