Autumn/Winter 2012 formalised Thom Browne womenswear as a complete runway proposition. The collection transferred the house’s precise tailoring, institutional references and abbreviated proportions into a broader vocabulary of skirts, dresses and sculpted silhouettes. Rather than treating womenswear as a secondary translation of the men’s suit, Browne used it to test how the uniform could shift across gender while retaining its discipline.
