About this collection
Time Machine pushed Westwood’s historical construction into a denser technical register in February 1988. Norfolk-suit structures, Harris Tweed, corsetry and articulated armour references were treated as working patterns whose proportions could be expanded, shortened and combined across contemporary dress.
The collection sits at the heart of the period later grouped by the house as the Pagan Years. Its strength comes from the precision with which historical construction was translated into mobile garments, strengthening a method that continued through Portrait and the early 1990s Paris collections.
