Overview
Indonesia Fashion Week is a Jakarta-based platform shaped by the country’s own fashion industry bodies and oriented towards presentation, industry visibility and national brand-building. It brings together runway shows, designer showcases and a wider programme that reflects Indonesia’s mix of ready-to-wear, modest fashion, textile heritage and contemporary commercial fashion. Within the regional calendar, it serves as a broad stage for Indonesian labels rather than a single-aesthetic event.
That breadth is central to the week’s identity. Designers use the platform to place Indonesian craft, fabrication and silhouette into a public show format while addressing buyers, media and neighbouring markets at the same time. It may be less internationally mythologised than the major capitals, but it remains a substantial fashion platform within Southeast Asia, with shows and presentations at the centre of its public role.
